In this module students will define the terms of empathy and compassion, and what it means to practice self-compassion. They will learn how to take others’ perspectives and what the difference is between empathy and sympathy. Students will hear from fellow peers as they share scenarios and experiences on how they gained knowledge of what empathy is in action. Finally, students will have an opportunity to reflect on what they have learned and extend their learning through a set of activities designed to foster open dialogue and discussions with other middle school students to actively participate in the process of empathy and compassion.
